For Jena, A Poem To Stop the World

Love, the restless breeze holds

soft shades of lost

blooms from many flowers

I planted for you.

Love, the busy sounds of the world

cannot drown out

the silent grace

I long have felt for you.

Do not disturb the placid seas.

Do not wake up the sleeping stars.

Do not put to flame the unlit candle

I have forever held for you.

Love, the seasons are made

of earth’s rotations around the sun

and I am made a full season

from how my love rotates around your beating

heart.
