Top officers claim the stealthy 610-foot-long vessel will be able to sneak up on rival warships and sink them without being detected.
A US Navy spokesman said: “It’s currently on Builders Trials, testing the hull, mechanical and engineering components of the ship.
“While all these systems are tested pierside, there is no substitute for the real world testing taking place in the Gulf of Maine.”
