Paul Ryan appears to be doing the work of preserving gun control by assuring that no impactful pro-gun legislation sees the light of day. Two critical bills, the National Concealed Carry Reciprocity Act and the Hearing Protection Act have been deliberately shelved by what anyone can only surmise is an anti-gun, anti-liberty, anti-human Speaker of the House.
From Daily Sanity
This is breaking news. Congressman Jeff Duncan is warning that his legislation, the Sportsmen’s Heritage and Recreational Enhancement (Share) Act, is on life support in Congress.
He has been pressuring Paul Ryan to schedule a vote on the bill and he has finally received a response……
……The Supreme Court is not going to come to the rescue on the right to carry. The Washington DC Attorney General just deliberately accepted defeat in order to make sure the Supreme Court didn’t have an opportunity to rule on the right to bear arms. That puts us years away from the highest Court hearing a challenge to liberal states’ gun bans.
The Concealed Carry Reciprocity Act would take our destiny into our own hands and settle that the right to carry applies nationwide, not just in your home state…..
The second major provision that Paul Ryan is trying to strip from the Share Act is the Hearing Protection Act. Back in the 1930s, Congress passed the National Firearms Act, making it next to impossible for everyday Americans to own suppressors. The legislation applied a 200 dollar lar tax to their purchase, forced gun owners to jump through hoops to apply, and then created a paper-heavy approval process that took months. That might not seem like a big tax, but this was passed during the Great Depression and only the rich and powerful could afford it……
But Paul Ryan doesn’t want any of these measures in the final bill. In his words, “the timing isn’t right.” Instead, he wants Rep. Duncan to add a version of Dianne Feinstein’s latest gun ban legislation, which is nothing but a disguised assault weapon ban….
