Japanese Prime Minister Fumio Kishida used his time spent to address the joint chambers of the U.S. congress to announce to the world that Japan’s relationship with the U.S. has changed, from being a support system for American-led defense to being a co-equal working in shared partnership for a common defense.
The Prime Minister declared “I’m here to say that Japan is already standing shoulder to shoulder with the United States. You are not alone. We are with you. The Japanese people are fully committed to these values. I do not want to leave our children a society where human rights were oppressed, where political self-determination is denied, where our lives are monitored by digital technology. I know you don’t either,”
