The mastermind behind the FTX crypto scheme, Sam Bankman-Fried, has been sentenced to 25 years in prison by US District Judge Lewis Kaplin. Legal experts believe he could only serve 17 years if he behaves well in prison. Bankman-Fried used FTX to filter millions of fraudulently acquired dollars to Democrats and Republicans, with a heavy favoring of Democrats, but all campaign finance charges were dropped before the trial. He could have received up to 50 years, so the sentence is viewed as being lenient. Excerpt from Business Insider Sam Bankman-Fried was sentenced to 25 years in prison on Thursday. Prison consultants think he could serve as few as 17 years — if he plays his cards right. He’ll have to resist contraband and exercise impulse control, prison consultants say. A court sentenced Sam Bankman-Fried, the fallen king of crypto, to 25 years in prison on Thursday. But whether he’ll serve all that time remains to be seen.
The RNC appears to be leaning into the election-integrity breaking practices of mail-in-voting and early voting with a hope that victories with the RNC will result in election reforms that will end the practices and add ID requirements for voting as well. RNC Co-Chair Lara Trump, said “We would love to have one day of voting. We would love to have voter ID and paper ballots. We can get back to that place … but we have to do it by electing Donald Trump at the top of the ticket, expanding our lead in the House and taking back the Senate and maybe we get back there one day. We gotta play the hand that we’re dealt and that means as soon as you can go vote, go vote out there and then you spend your time, every single day from that day on until Election Day, taking people to vote.” Excerpt from www.kake.com Top Republican officials have begun making some of their most overt calls yet for the party to better embrace early voting and vote-by-mail options. In recent TV appearances, memos to keyed-in party officials and public statements, GOP operatives and party leaders have pushed to clear the fog of past statements by Donald Trump casting doubt and discouraging Republicans from voting any other way but on Election Day. “We’ll have early voting in Michigan for the first time. We’ll take advantage of it,” a top Republican National Committee official said on a press call Thursday. “Mail ballots are not very old in Pennsylvania. We’ll have an opportunity to grow that. Ballot harvesting in Nevada is legal under certain circumstances. We’ll take advantage of it.” The arguments follow years of at times contradictory statements from the former president about the legality and safety of voting by mail or voting absentee. In recent election cycles, Republican strategists have fretted about their voters’ confidence in early voting options and if those doubts helped boost Democrats in some of the most competitive races across the country in recent election cycles.
Disney has been sued by Blackwell Capital for allegedly colluding with ValueAct Capital, who also manages Disney’s pension fund. As if that were enough, the Wall Street Journal is now reporting Nelson Peltz appears likely to get a seat on the board. Pelz is an activist investor who wants to end Disney’s woke experiment and turn the company back to “regular” family entertainment. Excerpt from www.thewrap.com In the latest twist in the Disney proxy fight, Blackwells Capital filed suit Thursday suggesting possible disclosure violations in how the entertainment giant dealt with hedge fund ValueAct Capital. Reuters reported the suit, filed in a Delaware court, focuses on the relationship between Disney and ValueAct Capital and an information-sharing agreement the two signed in January. The suit includes a demand from Blackwells to inspect records to “investigate its credible suspicion of wrongdoing regarding Disney’s dealings and disclosures related to ValueAct.” Disney told the news outlet the suspicions are “baseless” and said the lawsuit is a “desperate attempt to gain attention for their slate of director candidates.” Blackwells, along with another hedge fund, Nelson Peltz’s Trian Fund Management, is trying to convince investors to shun several of Disney’s board of directors candidates and vote in their own at the company’s annual shareholders meeting on Wednesday. Excerpt from thatparkplace.com The Wall Street Journal is reporting that Nelson Peltz may have a lead in votes as final ballots are turned in from across the spectrum of Disney shareholders. Though exact numbers have not been provided, and the majority of votes may still be outstanding, the idea that Peltz is currently in the lead is a shockwave across the industry. The WSJ article notes that even more major institutionalist organizations are throwing their support to Peltz in the very late eleventh hour: “Neuberger Berman supports Trian’s slate, citing the company’s succession woes, as others back CEO Bob Iger and his strategy.” — WSJ
New York City’s Mayor Eric Adams (D) is pushing forward with an appeal of a law passed by former Governor Bill DeBlasio (D) that allows illegal aliens to vote. The law was struck down by a lower court and now Mayor Adams hopes the New York Supreme Court will overturn the lower court and allow nearly 1 million illegal aliens to vote in the next election. New York City Council spokesperson announced the push, claiming “Today’s filing to appeal the Second Department’s recent decision seeks a determination from the state’s highest court that the law is consistent with the state constitution, election law, and the municipal home rule law.” Excerpt from lidblog.com The anti-American Democrats who are currently running New York City into the ground now wamt the state supreme court to allow more than 800,000 illegals to vote in city-wide elections. It’s just another example of the Democrats working to undermine this country and tear down our society and government. This particular saga started back in 2021 when self-professed socialist New York Mayor Bill de Blasio signed a city law that allowed illegals to vote. The law was immediately sent to the courts and has been knocking around ever since. And last month an appellate court struck the law down.
Since Assisted Suicide became legal in Oregon in 1997, 3,000 people have committed suicide. The process isn’t always easy as one case proved in 2023, where one person took nearly six days to die. Nearly half of those who have chosen assisted suicide did so because of the mounting cost of healthcare (43%), or didn’t want to burden their families (8%). The Society for the Protection of Unborn Children (SPUC) conducted the study. A spokesperson for the SPUC said: “Many vulnerable people think they have no option but to choose assisted suicide when they are abandoned by society or are made to feel that way. It’s also clear that most assisted suicides are not related to pain but to other challenges, and most worryingly, a societal pressure to choose death as many health systems find it easier and cheaper to kill problem patients rather than treat them. Around the world, cancer sufferers, the elderly, the disabled and even the mentally ill, are being abandoned to the thought that they might be better off dead…” Excerpt from www.lifenews.com A patient who received assisted suicide drugs last year in the US state of Oregon took 137 hours to die, nearly six days, an annual report has stated, while also revealing that many people choose death because they cannot afford healthcare. Assisted suicide in Oregon leaped by 21% in 2023, according to a state report detailing the 367 Death with Dignity Act (DWDA) deaths that year. Health authorities attribute the rise to patients now coming from outside of Oregon to die. Nearly 3,000 people have died through assisted suicide since Oregon legalised the procedure in 1997. Of the people who died from assisted suicide in Oregon in 2023, 92% cited loss of autonomy as a reason, as well as a less enjoyable life (88%) and loss of dignity (64%). 43% also stated that they did not want to be a burden on loved ones, and 8% said they wanted to die because of the cost of their medical expenses.
